Desktoptwo

Desktoptwo is a Flash based internet desktop that you can access from anywhere



  • Hard Drive. 1GB Free storage that you can share with other users. Simply select a folder, write the name of the user with whom you want to share files, decide the level of access and begin working collaboratively

  • Mail. Use Desktoptwo or add your own POP account(s)

  • Address Book. Access all your Contacts wherever you are. Share or import contacts from others.

  • Website Editor & blog. Create/Edit a webpage or blog on blinkinblog or myblogtwo

  • IM. Talk with the Desktoptwo community or use MSN

  • MP3 Player. Listen to your tunes from anywhere.

  • Programs. Desktoptwo provides access to Adobe Acrobat Reader and to the OpenOffice suite of applications, allowing you to open .pdf files and lightly edit word processing (.doc), spreadsheet (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files.

  • Wallpaper. Choose among numerous wallpaper designs and then apply a unique color scheme.

  • Message Boards. Meet other Desktoptwo users in a truly global marketplace of ideas

  • RSS Reader. Import your favorite feeds or set up new ones

  • My Sitestwo. Save your favorite sites and share them with others

  • Live Chat. Get to know Desktoptwo users from around the world

The features I tried also works on the Wii. Being able to access the same desktop from work, home and a gaming console is pretty cool.

Google Voice Local Search

Google Voice Local Search is an experimental service by Google  to make local-business search accessible over the phone. Just dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone. The service is free but regular phone charges may apply based on your telephone service provider. It is voice-activated, and you can access it from any phone (mobile or landline), in any location, at any time. 



Cheat Sheet
When you are asked for city and state, you can:



  • say the city and state like "beverly hills california".

  • say the zip, e.g. "nine-oh-two-one-oh".

  • type the zip code using the key pad, e.g. "9-0-2-1-0".

When you are asked for a business name or category, you can:



  • say a business name, like "Giovanni's pizzeria".

  • say a category name, like "hardware stores".

  • say "go back" to change city and state.

When browsing through results, you can:



  • say the listing number (e.g. "number two") or press the corresponding key (e.g. "2") to choose a listing or navigate between results.

  • say "text message" or press "9" to receive a text message, when you are calling from a mobile phone.

  • say "details" to get more information about the current listing.

  • say "start over" or press "*" to start from the main menu.

  • say "go back" to change business or category.
